The Handball Super Cup celebrates a premiere in 2024: In the sports city of Düsseldorf, the DAIKIN HBL and the Women's Handball Bundesliga will play out the first title of the season in a joint event for the first time.

First game, first silverware: In the rematch of the previous season's cup final, the handball players of HB Ludwigsburg (formerly SG BBM Bietigheim) gained revenge for their painful defeat in the Haushahn Final4 and lived up to their role as favourites against TuS Metzingen, winning the game 32:24 (15:14).

The Füchse Berlin beat champions and cup winners Magdeburg 32:30 (17:17) in the first showdown of the new season to secure the first Super Cup triumph in their history. 9,034 spectators in the PSD BANK DOME were able to watch a thrilling game in which victory or defeat was only decided in the final minutes.

 

The Handball Super Cup will find its new home in Munich's SAP Garden from 2025. This year, the 32nd edition of the most spectacular start to the season will be held in Germany's most modern arena.

The match between the German champions and the DHB Cup winner for the Handball Super Cup has been an integral part of the DAIKIN HBL calendar since 1994. THW Kiel and SG Wallau-Massenheim faced each other at the competition's debut. The Handball Super Cup turned out to be a complete success, thrilling the audience and bringing handball back to the center of attention at the start of the season. Although SG Wallau-Massenheim were the surprise winners of the premiere, their then opponents from Kiel are still the undisputed record winners today. The Zebras have lifted the trophy 13 times in 23 appearances.
